How does the city use metrics and data to plan for future growth? Is it possible for this information to carry the same biases that the people who create it carry?
How does an inability to access data sets impact how citizens can make their voices heard?
This year, we're very excited to partner with the New Leaders Council and The Plantory to host a set of conversations around On the Table. On The Table is an annual city-wide event where neighbors, friends, and family gather together to discuss issues important to them. This year, the theme of the conversations will focus on place and belonging.
We're examining the theme of belonging through a few different lenses, each of which will have their own table at the Plantory. This table will focus on belonging through the lens of Municipal Data.
We're very excited to say that our Data & Belonging table will be facilitated by Jessica Breen, a CivicLex Programmatic Board Member, Director of Education and Outreach at Bluegrass Land Conservancy, and a Critical Geographer.
