Your first chance to get involved - help guide the topic selection!
We want to hear what YOU think about different parts of Lexington's Urban County Charter (it's like a local constitution). Your responses will directly guide what parts of the Charter will be considered for changes at Lexington's first Civic Assembly in March 2026.
The Urban County Charter is the rulebook that outlines how our local government is set up, what it’s allowed to do, and the rules it has to follow. The Charter can impact all policy in Lexington -- including neighborhoods, housing, parks, economic development, and so much more.
It hasn't been updated since 1998, so CivicLex is hosting Lexington's first ever Civic Assembly to recommend potential changes to the Charter. The goal of the Assembly is to help residents make Lexington's local government better represent and respond to our community.
While the participants for Lexington's first Civic Assembly are chosen at random, this is YOUR chance to influence the process and the future of Lexington!

We’re looking for volunteers to help reach more of the community through the topic selection process, as well as make the Assembly possible.
More information on volunteer opportunities to come soon. Meanwhile, if you’re interested in getting involved you can reach out to info@civiclex.org.
