What’s next for CivicLex

CivicLex is growing in big ways in 2025, expanding our work and deepening our impact on civic life in Lexington. Read more to see what we’re up to and how you can support.

Building a lasting K12- program

We believe civic engagement should start long before voting age. In 2025, we’re scaling up our in-school programming to reach more students, training more educators, and laying the groundwork to make our K–12 Civic Education program a lasting part of Lexington’s educational landscape.

What we need: Multi-year funding to expand school partnerships, create curriculum resources, and bring on additional program staff.

Help us make civic education part of every student’s future.

Expanding our civic reporting

The CivicLex Weekly has become a trusted source for thousands of residents trying to make sense of local government. This year, we’re growing that coverage — adding new beats, launching regional reporting with Next City, and building a standalone civic news platform.

What we need: Investment to grow our editorial capacity, fund new regional partnerships, and ensure a sustainable revenue model for community-powered journalism.
