Session 1 - Orientation
March 1, 2026 | 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Orientation session! The first meeting of Lexington’s first Civic Assembly will be set up the whole assembly process. We will hear from guest speakers about the importance of the Urban County Charter and the Assembly’s work, introduce all of the assembly members, and talk about how the assembly will work and what’s coming next.

Session 2 - Compensation
March 3, 2026 | 5:30pm - 8:30pm
First education session! We will be learning more about how Lexington’s council works, how the city sets compensation, and different perspectives on the impacts of changing how much councilmembers are paid. This session will include presentations from guest speakers, peer city research, and small group discussions.

Session 3 - Charter Review
March 10, 2026 | 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Second education session! We will be learning more about the Urban County Charter, how other cities do charter review, and how other sections of the charter could be impacted by charter review. This will also include presentations from guest speakers, peer city research, and small group discussions.

Session 4 - Deliberation
March 14, 2026
First deliberation session! This is when the assembly will start brainstorming potential ideas and opinions for how compensation and charter review could potentially be changed. We will begin the session following up on questions from the edition days, and also report on public comment we have received. Most of the day will be spent in large and small group conversations around potential recommendations for the charter.
Session 5 - Refining Recommendations
March 28, 2026
Second deliberation session! With feedback from the public and subject matter experts, the assembly members will continue deliberating about recommendations to change the charter, and refine proposals for amendments.
Session 6 - Closing Session
March 29, 2026
Third deliberation and closing session! The last session of the assembly will be spent refining proposals and voting on what recommendations the assembly wants to pass. We will end the assembly with a celebration at West Sixth brewing!
