American Academy of Arts and Sciences comes to Lexington!

Last week, CivicLex was incredibly excited to have an opportunity to be part of a series of events with the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAA&S), Stephen Heintz of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and Carolyn Lukensmeyer, Executive Director of the National Institute of Civil Disclosure.

The Academy was in Lexington to discuss “Our Common Purpose," a publication that provides 31 recommendations to strengthen democracy. These recommendations were created before COVID-19 through several listening sessions held by AAA&S in urban and rural areas all over the county. The Academy returned to discuss the recommendations with the original listening session attendees in Lexington as a follow-up to hear thoughts on the final product.

In the report, in their presentations, while they were here, and in other national conversations, the Academy lifted up CivicLex as one of the nation's best examples of civic infrastructure that strengthens the civic health of a community. We're incredibly honored to have this significant recognition of our work.
