CivicLex hit the road to build national awareness for our model - and met up in DC!

Last week, CivicLex staff wrapped up a long few of weeks of travel, where our staff had a chance to connect with other thought leaders in the civic health field, learn from other communities, and spend time talking about our experiences doing our work in Lexington!

Richard started off by heading to Grand Rapids, Michigan for Commerce Lexington’s leadership visit, where he was inspired by the deep culture of philanthropy there. After that, he went to INN Days in Washington DC, hosted by the Institute for Nonprofit News, where he connected with other leaders in the nonprofit news space.

Kit spent three days in San Antonio, TX with a group of civic and education leaders through Seek Common Ground, where she learned about the Open Systems Principles. After that, she set off for Washington DC (after spending 6 hours on the Dallas airport runway) for the Collaborative Journalism Summit, followed by meeting up with Richard at INN Days.

Megan and Stephanie roadtripped to Washington DC for Citizen University’s Civic Collaboratory convening, where they connected with civic health practitioners from across the country. They even got to sit in the seats of Congress in the House of Representatives!

Noel, Haley, and Jillian stayed home () and held down the fort to make sure everything ran smoothly while they were gone.
