March 10th - 14th
Civic Learning Week is hosted annually by iCivics to highlight the importance of civic education in sustaining and strengthening democracy in the United States. Learn more at civiclearningweek.org.
We created a few fun activities to celebrate Civic Learning Week! You can complete civic actions in a scavenger hunt, host a voter registration drive, attend a city meeting field trip, or find out your civic superpower. The best part is if you participate in our activity sheets during CLW, you’ll get a special prize! Follow the instructions on each sheet to learn how to redeem your prize.
You can find the activity sheets at any of the Lexington Public Library branches, our UK Cornerstone space, or download them below. You can also participate in a civic superpower sticker poll at our UK Cornerstone office, and scroll down to find more information on the city meeting field trip.
Find other opportunities to get involved from the Kentucky Council for the Social Studies here.
Attend a city meeting with CivicLex!
Join CivicLex’s reporter, Adrian Paul Bryant, on a field trip to the Council Environmental Quality & Public Works Committee Meeting on Tuesday, March 11th at 1:00pm. Meet Adrian 15 minutes before the meeting in the Government Center’s lobby (200 East Main Street).
