Celebrate Juneteenth at The Lyric Theatre and across Lexington

This Wednesday is Juneneenth. a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

The Lyric Theatre will be hosting “Juneteenth Recognition of Past, Present, and Future.” The evening long celebration start at 4pm with a vendor fair showcasing diverse local artisans, and will be followed by live performances at 7pm. The event is free and open to the public!
