Commerce Lexington Regional Competitiveness Plan update

On Tuesday, the Budget, Finance and Economic Development Committee will hear an update on the Regional Competitiveness Plan from Commerce Lexington’s Executive Director of Business and Education Betsy Dexter.

The presentation focuses on one specific goal of the Regional Competitiveness Plan, which is to create a new regional talent attraction website. The website, lookatLEX.com, was launched earlier this year with the goal of elevating awareness of the Greater Lexington area as a desirable place to live and work.

The target audiences for the website and social media campaigns working to attract talent include alumni of colleges and universities in Cenrtal Kentucky who are of working age and potentially looking to return to Kentucky.

Tourists are also a target audience for outreach.  Strategies include emphasizing key industries in the greater Lexington area, tracking search behavior, featuring regional attraction websites, and fostering interest through social media.

You can view the presentation slides starting on page 21 of this packet.

The Budget, Finance and Economic Development Committee will meet on Tuesday, November 19th at 1pm in Council Chambers. You can attend in-person or watch live on LexTV.
