Compensation Study Update - Council Work Session October 11

In October 11th’s Council Work Session, the Council heard the Compensation Study presentation. This study was performed to compare compensation for LFUCG employees to other relevant labor markets/competitors. The goal is to ensure that all positions performing similar work with the same level of responsibility are classified together and compensated accurately.

In short, the LFUCG administration may establish a more competitive pay structure for all jobs to keep the salary ranges in line with similar markets.

Below are the estimated costs of this plan:

An LFUCG HR representative asked the council to implement the changes in this study, which would cost about $3.7M with fringe benefits.

Though there was dissent on council, the council voted to pass the recommendations from Management Advisory Group, Inc (MAG) in an ordinance in the October 13 Council Meeting. This ordinance was passed. Salary adjustments will become effective the first payroll Monday after this Council Meeting.

MAG will be doing another study as part of their original contract with LFUCG. MAG will hire an expert to analyze what compensation looks like based on race, ethnicity and gender in LFUCG. We’ll inform you when the results of this study come out.
