ONE Lexington Annual Update

In January 24th’s Social Services and Public Safety (SSPS) CommitteeONE Lexington — the youth violence intervention program — presented an annual update on its work. ONE Lexington focuses programming on Prevention, Intervention, Enforcement, and Re-Entry (PIER) for at-risk youth. To date, they cite 3,000 interactions with over 350 students through the “It Takes A Village” program and has provided $20,000 in scholarships through its “Be the Change” program. You can look at the full presentation starting on page one of this packet.

One of the insights from the presentation came from Devine Carama, ONE Lexington’s Director. He stated that while ONE Lexington has done a lot of youth programming in the past two years, he wants to move away from running their own programming and instead lift up other organizations doing similar work to prevent duplication of services. Instead, they will focus efforts on re-entry services, grants and scholarships, and filling in service gaps in other parts of Lexington, such as the Tates Creek area.

Council was incredibly congratulatory of ONE Lexington’s work. They took no action related to the program. You can watch the meeting recording on LexTV.
