🔎 - Big Topic: It’s Your America Postponed
It’s Your America is Now Postponed.
For the past few weeks, we’ve been getting the word out about It’s Your America- an event sponsored by Civic Genius.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, CivicLex and the partners of this event have decided to postpone this event to September.
Keep an eye out for another announcement; we’ll have details shortly.
🏃 - Get Engaged: Piecing a City- Exploring City Government & Municipal Finances through Quilting
Hannah Allen will be holding a show to display her artwork on the third floor of the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center at 141 E Main Street from Jul. 29 to Oct. 3.
Hannah will show seven quilts she designed to tell a story about the different facets of municipal financing. There will even be some interactive elements!
Come to the opening of her show from 5-7pm on Friday, July 29.
🗞 - Updates from Last Week: Planning Commission Work Session
The Planning Commission held a work session last week. They read through some minor alterations to the language used in the 2045 Comprehensive Plan Goals & Objectives with Planning Staff and Long Range Planning.
One theme in the proposed Goals & Objectives has yet to be created. It concerns the Urban Service Boundary and how it should be maintained in city planning.
The Commission decided to leave this specific set of goals to be drafted by the Goal 4 Workgroup. The group says it should be done with this by the end of September.
After that, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing before passing it off to Council for approval.
The Goal 4 Workgroup is meeting this Tuesday, July 26, at 10am in the 5th-floor conference room of the Government Center.
