Council continues discussion of Council Rules and Procedures
Update 9/25:
At September 19th’s General Government & Planning (GGP) meeting, the Committee voted to adopt the changed made by the subcommittee to the Council Rules and Procedures without the proposed seating chart and social media best practices.
The proposed seating chart was removed so that the entire Council can discuss the seating chart together at the next Committee of the Whole (COW) on October 12th. The social media discussion was postponed due to a pending Supreme Court case on misinformation that could affect how government officials can use social media. This section will be revisited once that case is resolved.
A few additional edits were made in order to correct some typos and clarify some language, but the rest of the content remained the same as what was previously presented back in August. The updated Council Rules and Procedures was passed unanimously by the Committee and will go before the entire council for adoption in October.

The Council Rules and Procedures Subcommittee will give another presentation to the GGP Committee this Tuesday. The Subcommittee presented their work to the GGP Committee on August 15th. You can read our write-up of that presentation here.
This week will be a continuation of the discussion over the new rules and procedures draft. The rules and procedures changes tighten rules about various aspects of Council’s operation, including:
How Neighborhood Development Funds are spent and reported by Council
Best practices for Councilmember social media accounts
Establishing a seating chart for Councilmembers in Chambers
