Council to vote on plan for Kelley’s Landing and LSC financial incentives

At Work Session on October 31st, Council will vote on a $125,000 contract with Bluegrass Community Foundation (BGCF) to support the development of a master plan for Kelley’s Landing. This area of land along the Kentucky River will be Fayette County’s first waterfront park. The contract will include community engagement opportunities, as well as a marketing and public relations campaign for the project.

Council will also be voting on financial incentives for the Lexington Sporting Club for the development of the new soccer stadium on Athens-Boonesboro Road, including a $1 million forgivable loan and a 1% rebate on its payroll taxes for 10 years. The Economic Development Investment Board reviewed the requests for an Industrial Revenue Bond and Public Infrastructure Forgivable Loan Incentive for this project, and has recommended Council approval of both incentives. You can read the Herald-Leader’s breakdown of the potential total of the incentive package here.

Council Work Session will be held on Tuesday, October 31st at 3pm in Council Chambers. You can attend in-person or watch live on LexTV.
