Planning Commission held a public hearing on the draft USB expansion map

On Thursday, September 28th, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to gather additional feedback about the proposed Urban Service Boundary expansion map recommended by the Urban Growth Management Advisory Committee.

This public hearing saw many of the same property owners from the previous input session come forward and reaffirm their desire to be included or excluded from the expansion areas. Additionally, neighbors and surrounding community members spoke about the impacts expansion would have on their specific neighborhoods. Members of the public can continue to submit public comment digitally at this link.

The Planning Commission will take a vote on whether to accept, reject, or revise this proposed map at their next public hearing on Thursday, October 12th. After this vote, the Division of Planning will hire a consultant to develop an Expansion Area Master Plan for the expansion areas. This Master Plan will set a vision for development — including zoning types, new and expanded facilities for cars, bikes, and pedestrians, community centers, and more — which will presented to Council for a final vote by December 1st, 2024.

You can attend the Planning Commission’s October 12th public hearing at 1:30pm in-person at Council Chambers, or watch live on LexTV.
