Urban Service Boundary: No Changes from Last Week

At this time, no changes have been made regarding the proposed Urban Service Boundary (USB) expansion map.

As a reminder:

  • The Planning Commission heard public comment on the map on September 28th. They had planned to vote on whether to accept, reject, or amend it at their next public hearing on October 12th. However, due to ongoing litigation against Council regarding the USB expansion, Planning Commission decided to delay the vote until Judge VanMeter decides whether or not to dismiss the case.

  • The USB expansion lawsuit received an initial court hearing on October 5th. Judge VanMeter asked for more evidence to be submitted by both parties by October 19th. You can read our write-up of that hearing here.

Here’s what is happening with the Boundary this week:

  • The Planning Commission will discuss the map at their Work Session this week, but will not vote on the map until its October 26th public hearing.

  • The General Government & Planning Committee will hear a presentation this week updating Councilmembers on the progress of the Urban Service Boundary expansion. You can view the entire presentation here.

The General Government & Planning Committee will meet on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 1pm in Council Chambers. You can attend this hearing in person or watch live on LexTV.

Planning Commission Work Session will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 1:30pm in the 3rd floor conference room at 101 E Vine Street. You can attend this meeting in person.
