Updates to Council on Disparity Study
In Tuesday’s General Government and Planning Committee, Councilmembers will hear updates on LFUCG’s implementation of the 2022 disparity study. The Disparity Study analyzed contracts and projects awarded to businesses by LFUCG, such as construction projects or professional services, to see how equitable LFUCG was in awarding contracts to women and minority-owned businesses.
Digital Access Project Creates Searchable Database of 91,000 Pages of Historical Records
In February 13th’s Council Work Session, Council heard an update on the Digital Access Project (DAP), a program led by the Fayette County Clerk’s office. Starting in May 2022, volunteers and paid staff for the DAP have digitized historic Lexington property records that show transactions and ownership of enslaved African Americans and created a searchable database for the records.

Also in Tuesday’s PPS Committee Meeting, there will be a presentation on the Lexington Hamlets Project. This project, started by District 12 Councilmember Kathy Plomin, examines ways to preserve historical artifacts and buildings relating to Lexington’s hamlets.
