The City begins it’s work on locating or designing a new City Hall

Council had another workshop on May 25th, on the new Space Study. In the Mayor’s proposed FY24 budget, $6 Million was allocated to the Space Study, which is an collaborative effort between LFUCG and consultants to evaluate the needs of city employees and begin the process of finding or designing a new space for City Hall. This workshop talked about that funding, process, and where things are at currently.

Update:

The consultants presented their findings from all the different divisions and departments that they talked to on what kinds of spaces are needed for efficient and successful city hall operations. Some options presented include desk-sharing for divisions with a lot of field-worker or remote/hybrid positions, increasing the amount of meeting and conference spaces, and adding additional communal and break-room type spaces. They also began asking some of the difficult questions about whether or not LFUCG should renovate their current spaces or try to find a new space. Though there was general consensus amongst Councilmembers present that they need to remain downtown, no action was taken at this workshop.

This workshop was held on Thursday, May 25th at 3:00 PM in the Government Center 5th floor conference room.
