Our Boards

CivicLex has a unique governance structure made up of two Boards - the Governance Board that handles our finances and long term stability, and the Programmatic Board that makes decisions and recommendations about our work.

Our Board structure allows us to have individuals on our board that are closest to the perspectives we need for our work, while limiting those individuals from and financial or legal liability. It also allows our Governance Board to focus entirely on the financial and legal needs of our organization without wading into the weeds of our day-to-day work. Representatives from these two boards come together to form an Executive Board, which works closely with staff.
