We had an absolute blast Monday night celebrating our 5th birthday at West Sixth!

For the last few weeks, Stephanie and Haley have been traveling to different High Schools in Fayette County to talk to them about Lexington's Local Government!

CivicLex is part of Lexington’s delegation to Reimagining the Civic Commons (RCC), a network of civic leaders across the country that are innovating new and better ways to design, operate and manage public spaces in order to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits for their communities.

Last week, our Director of Programs, Megan Gulla, Valerie Friedman (LFUCG Division of Planning), and Christine Smith (Seedleaf), traveled to New York City for a convening with other Parks Equity Accelerator teams from around the country.

Last week, CivicLex's Executive Director Richard Young presented about CivicLex's work at the Knight Media Forum in Miami. Hosted by the Knight Foundation, The Media Forum is a premiere national gathering that brings together philanthropy, academics, media, and community organizations to discuss how to build a more informed and engaged society.

Last week, Richard and Adrian joined My Old Kentucky Podcast! My Old Kentucky Podcast is a weekly news show that covers statewide issues, but hosts Robert Kahne and Jazmin Smith also interview organizations across the state.

Phase I of the Parks Equity Accelerator wrapped last week with Focus Group conversations that included Parks and Recreation staff and the executive directors from our partner organizations. 

Earlier this week, our Director of Programs Megan spoke to 45 high school students about how to make and impact through local government! This was a part of the Ambassador of Change Day through the Leadership Lexington Youth Program.

Last week, Director of Civic Education Stephanie Mobley met with representatives from each of Fayette County's public high schools for our new partnership with Fayette county Public Schools!

We are incredibly excited to share that we have brought aboard two new Americorps VISTAs, Haley Wartell and Jillian Riseman!

The CivicLex Team spent a few days in the first week of January at a cabin in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge holding a staff retreat! We planned out our workshops, programs, and exciting new projects for 2023 and even into the first half of 2024!
