CivicLex is part of Lexington’s delegation to Reimagining the Civic Commons (RCC), a network of civic leaders across the country that are innovating new and better ways to design, operate and manage public spaces in order to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits for their communities.

Last week, our Director of Programs, Megan Gulla, Valerie Friedman (LFUCG Division of Planning), and Christine Smith (Seedleaf), traveled to New York City for a convening with other Parks Equity Accelerator teams from around the country.

Last week, CivicLex's Executive Director Richard Young presented about CivicLex's work at the Knight Media Forum in Miami. Hosted by the Knight Foundation, The Media Forum is a premiere national gathering that brings together philanthropy, academics, media, and community organizations to discuss how to build a more informed and engaged society.

Phase I of the Parks Equity Accelerator wrapped last week with Focus Group conversations that included Parks and Recreation staff and the executive directors from our partner organizations.
Megan and Haley Visit the Leadership Lexington Youth Program!
Earlier this week, our Director of Programs Megan spoke to 45 high school students about how to make and impact through local government! This was a part of the Ambassador of Change Day through the Leadership Lexington Youth Program.

CivicLex Went on a Staff Retreat!
The CivicLex Team spent a few days in the first week of January at a cabin in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge holding a staff retreat! We planned out our workshops, programs, and exciting new projects for 2023 and even into the first half of 2024!
